Smithbrook Kilns is the name of the premises-to-rent development that has arisen from the derelict remains of the old Smithbrook brickworks, seven miles south of Guildford on the A281 to Horsham.

Work on the first buildings to be repaired or rebuilt was begun in the early nineteen-eighties, to cater for the growing need for local premises for small and start-up businesses of all kinds. The intention has been to provide accommodation of a high standard in an attractive, naturally landscaped rural setting.

Twenty years later, the policy remains the same with, over fifty different businesses located here.

Over the years the combination of its excellent location, easy car parking and traditional brick buildings in an attractive rural setting, has made Smithbrook Kilns a popular place to work in and to visit. Consequently, there is a demand for premises, which is sometimes impossible to meet, but in the near future it is hoped to start constructing some additional buildings, very similar in character to the existing ones, to provide further accommodation for smaller specialist shops and other businesses.
